JoSAA Counselling Process — Step by Step
Register on josaa.ac.in
Use JEE Mains Application Number and password. JEE Advanced rank holders can also register.
Fill & Order Choices
Add up to 25,000 institute-branch-category choices. Order them from most to least preferred.
Lock Choices
Confirm and lock your preference list before the deadline. Changes are not allowed after locking.
View Seat Allotment
A seat is allotted based on your rank and preference order. Review the allotted seat.
Accept Seat & Pay Fees
Accept the seat online and pay the seat acceptance fee within the deadline to hold your seat.
Document Verification
Upload or present required documents (marksheets, category certificate, ID) at the designated reporting centre.
Report to Institute
Report to the allotted institute with original documents by the reporting deadline.
Important — IIT vs NIT Eligibility
You need a JEE Advanced rank to be allotted an IIT seat through JoSAA. JEE Mains rank alone is not sufficient for IITs.
For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, only the JEE Mains All India Rank is required — JEE Advanced is not necessary.
